feelings

soz to the zero people that read this blog. I did not die I just moved states. Back home to Queensland: the land of sun. But also the land of my parents/siblings/friends/Christmas presents. So I guess it's ok

Anyway while I am here in the cultural wasteland that is my home state I have decided to do SOMETHING creative and make a journal/collage book/a mess. I have boxes and boxes of tickets, maps and flyers from my 21 years of being on earth  I feel like if I'm not cutting stuff out and sticking it to paper I might actually go insane.... and melt because Queensland doesn't do summer nicely. Also the cafe I used to go all the time when I was home closed down so I have sunk into a deep depression. (not really, I just found another one across the street)

OK so here are some pics of me starting my book. I will scan the pages when I'm done in like a year. Stay tuned.

Also I went to see Jedward live so I'm basically just listening to Jedward now. All other music is irrelevant to me. And yes, they were amazing. Bye

love letter to SNL

Straight up, I love SNL. If you've ever been involved in any way with this show I've probably looked at all your instagram pictures and gushed to my sister about how cute and funny I think you are. I LOVE IT. When I went to NYC in 2010 I lined up to see the Jeff Bridges/Eminem episode...I did not get in cos I was an idiot and didn't get a standby ticket early enough. I have learned from my mistake and I will see it live next time. I am determined.

 I love it so much that my obsession has rubbed off onto the people closest to me. I am not even sorry

It impresses me so much that these people can write and rehearse an hour long show in a week and roll out so many excellent sketches/jokes and adoreableless (is that a word? dont care) I know sometimes the sketches are a big ol flop but I love every version of the cast so much that it doesn't matter to me.

My only SNL issue is the lack of diversity in the cast. It's 2013 and there are no funny black women? Really Lorne? The new cast as of season 39 are all skinny white dudes and one skinny white girl. I mean, yeah they are very funny (especially Noel!) but why all white people.

They did make fun of themselves in the Kerry Washington ep because the beautiful Kerry had to play 1000 black ladies because there was no other ladies who could in the cast but they could have 6 different Matthew McConaugheys. I really hope this means SNL has recognized their problem and can FIX IT next season. I love white dudes as much as the next people but it's totally time for equal representation on TV.

A lot of people I know just kinda gave up on SNL when Tina Fey/Amy Poehler/any number of famous comedians left, often to get their own shows. But I totes luv the cast. Any version of the cast. My favourite two new-ish cast members are Aidy Bryant and Cecily Strong. If you follow me ANYWHERE on the internet this will be no secret. They are so funny and beautiful and their friendship on the internet is hella cute. The girls are killing it this season. They are all consistently hilarious and the real stars of the show. Although if you ask my sister it's Taran Killam and I kinda agree. He had such huge shoes to fill when Fred/Andy/Jason/Fred/Will left. I watch old episode on Netflix and forgot how much I really do love those dudes but Taran is doing amazingly and  fills the void left in my heart by those goofy/handsome losers.

And if you were wondering, my favourite host/episode ever is any time Justin Timberlake hosts. Especially the ones that have the Barry Gibb Talk Show in them because DAMN he's funny and so is Fallon. (heart eyes for days).

LUV OF MY LIFE - NUMBER 1

Ever since Kelly slapped Michael Scott in Diversity Day I have loved Mindy Kaling. The Office is a huge part of my life and hands down my favourite show ever. Mindy wrote some of the most amazing episodes. She is a queen. Queen of television, queen of the world and most importantly...queen of being very good at instagram. She's got it all.

Mindy Kaling is beautiful and smart and VERY FUNNY. If you haven't read her book Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) or watched The Mindy Project or just anything she is in or done you need to get on that ASAP. I am pretty obsessed with celebrity biographies and I think hers is my favourite.

“I don’t think it should be socially acceptable for people to say they are “bad with names.” No one is bad with names. That is not a real thing. Not knowing people’s names isn’t a neurological condition; it’s a choice. You choose not to make learning people’s names a priority. It’s like saying, “Hey, a disclaimer about me: I’m rude.” (preach it gurl!)

The thing I like most about Mindy is the fact that she is so pro-celebz and pro-"trash". Somehow it has become a thing that in order to be taken seriously as a female (or even as a person) you have to be reading 50 books a week, be polite all the time and not have a favourite Kardashian. That aint fair! I like reading but I also think Khloe Kardashian is the best one and I will not be thought less of just because I like to keep up with their family.

She was interviewed by Parade magazine and she said this:

"I always get asked, “Where do you get your confidence?” I think people are well meaning, but it’s pretty insulting. Because what it means to me is, “You, Mindy Kaling, have all the trappings of a very marginalized person. You’re not skinny, you’re not white, you’re a woman. Why on earth would you feel like you’re worth anything?”

Isn't that the best thing you've ever heard? The world is hard. Males in television/movies get asked serious questions and females get asked what diet they were on to look camera ready. I read on tumblr someone said Mindy Kaling is the human equivalent of retweeting people calling you pretty on twitter. But what the heck is wrong with that? I think the world would be 5000 times better if we taught every babe to own their amazing qualities just like Mindy does.

I will forever be #TeamMindy. AND I REALLY WANT HER AND BJ NOVAK TO GET TOGETHER. We all know you're in love, just admit it guys.

I've had this blog since the dawn of the internet (probably) but I have never really done anything with it.

This is a list of things that have happened on the internet slash in the world in the last few weeks that I #love

1. Bitch Apartment/ SNL season 39 in general

I REALLY LOVE THE CECILY/AIDY COMBO! I follow them both on twitter/instagram and they are BFF comedy royalty. Bonus Cecily is KILLING IT with Weekend Update....and Aidy is my favourite part of every episode. I call them by their first names because Aidy favourited two of my tweets. BFFs. (I really like the rest of the cast but these two are my favs. everyone is gr8 this time around) My favourite episode so far is probably the Edward Norton one, purely because the Wes Anderson trailer was FLAWLESS. They did good. And Edward Norton is a beautiful angel who is legit funny. Go him

I have nothing to say except this is my favourite thing ever. Bless the old dogs and the new. p.s can Game of Thrones come back already? I need more Peter Dinklage and his cast of babes in my life. (I love Joffrey and if you dont you can suck it)

3. American Horror Story: Coven

Real talk: I have only seen 2 episodes of this show and they were the two most recent ones so I am relying on Greta to tell me the plot before now. But I liked sassy Jessica Lange and I just wanna dress like a goth/witch forever and ever. Also I'd watch anything that has someone from The Office in it

4. Gilmore Girls

I am the queen of watching things way after everyone else did. (Welcome to 2000 ya idiot) I have seen a few episodes before now and I even went to Yale in 2011 because of Rory but I haven't seen the entire thing so now is the time. I just finished season 5! 2 seasons to go! I love it so much. So many strong female characters, amazing female FRIENDSHIPS and also so many hot babes (LUKE DANES 4EVAAAAAA). Sookie is my favourite because I think Melissa McCarthy is the queen of the world. If you haven't watched it please go watch it and then talk to me about how beautiful Logan is or how much on a scale of 1 to 10 you wanna be friends with Paris (the answer is 10).
